THE ORIGINAL TYPHOON

The Typhoon appears in the first Holdsworth Catalogue discribed as an ideal mount for club fast touring and racing giveing a smooth ride due to the special angles used. Built from Accles & Pollock Kromo (chrome-moly steel), it has a 10 1/2″ BB hight and 42 1/2″ wheel base.

Discribed as the Upright Typhoon in 1936 it now has 70 deg seat angel. Reynolds 19/22 seat tube, soild cast lugs and “D” section fork crown. This specification is carried over into 1937.

The Typhoon is again mentioned in Holdsworth’s ‘1938 cycle programme‘ for the Earls Court Cycle Show 22-29 Sept 1937 and listed in the as a value option and upright.

THE TYPHOON 1951-1958

The Typhoon returns to the Holdsworth catalogues in 1951. It is built with Reynolds or A&P tubing and Holdsworth Continental “fancy Lug”. Angles are 73 Deg. Head & 71 Deg. Seat. This specification remained unchanged

THE 60’s TYPHOON (1966 – 1968)

1966 Catalogue

The Typhoon makes another return in 1966 with modern equipment to offer an older style bike along side the Mistral & Cyclone modern machines; the Monsoon & Hurricane have already been dropped.

1968 Catalogue

Frame Spec. seems to be the same as the 50’s version with Holdworth Continental lugs. The Typhoon is the last of the post war style bikes, the Record & Equipe are added to the range for 1969.
