The shop started making frames again for the factory at the end of the 1950’s to cater for individual customer requirements; factory Specials. In the mid 1960’s they made frames of their own design with the Italia range again built to specific customer requirements. The Strada was the Road Bike in the range and the Italia was the stock frame built in advance of sales to a standard Strada specification.
These frames could be bought on the spot and taken as a frameset or built into a bike quicker than waiting for the bespoke frame to be built first. The frame was aimed at touring & general use rather than a customer’s racing requirements. As the designs were the same it is difficult to tell them apart without knowing how they were purchased. The Italia would be built to spec. and the Strada deviated from it widely due to the options available and customer requirements.
At some time later a Sprint version of the Italia was also produced in Track and Path variants. Again presumably to a std. Spec. rather than to bispoke requests as the Pista. Note: Prugant S lugs, Track and Path ends, Semi-Wrapover stays, Campag Allan Bolt, drilled and un-drilled rear stay.
